Kanye West: Truly Christlike?

Let's have a discussion about Kanye's porn (and sex, in general) habits. Recently, Kanye, or should I say Ye, has revealed that he uses the Reddit app to view OnlyFans content of women. Ye viewing porn does not come at a surprise for some of us. More like many of us. Ye's porn habits date back to his childhood. In an interview with Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show, Kanye made a bold claim stating that at the age of 5, he stumbled across a Playboy magazine lying around which would end up being his gateway to a sex and porn addiction. He also revealed that sex was a coping mechanism for him after his mother died.

Early in the conversation, West began speaking on the "sex sells" concept and revealed that he found his dad's copy of Playboy when he was five, which served as the "gateway to a full on pornography addiction."

"It has impacted every choice I have made in my life from age five to now, having to kick the habit," he said, before explaining that it later developed in a sex addiction that played into his ego. West also touched on how that attitude was related to his notorious 2009 VMAs moment with Taylor Swift.

"That was such a script out of a rock star's life," he said. "You know that Playboy that I found when I was five years old was written all over the moment when I was at the MTV awards with the Timberlands, the Balmain jeans... before people was rocking Balmain jeans, and the Hennessy bottle. My mom had passed a year before. And I said some people drown themselves in drugs, and I drown myself in my addiction: sex."

And though West's since overcome his addiction (even if he still has that free lifetime Pornhub membership), his past experiences appeared to have an impact on the making-of Jesus Is King. But how so exactly?

"I was asking people to... this is gonna be radical what I'm about to say," he said. "There were times where I was asking people to not have premarital sex while they were working."

Turns out though that West's rationale was rooted in a desire for his team to stay focused — something he also tried to cultivate through prayer and fasting together, as "When people pray together, and fast together, the power is increased."

Ye's own mother, the beloved Dr. Donda West, recalls a time where Ye brought a pornographic magazine to school and was caught red handed. She also recalls a time where she found a very graphic porno in his VCR. This is an excerpt out of her book, Raising Kanye:

Not everything was perfect during those years, and although Kanye was a good kid, he got into his share of devilment. I'll never forget the day he took the X-rated magazine to school. He was passing it around for the other boys to see and the teacher caught him. I've never been so embarrassed as the day I had to go to the school and face Ms. Wooten. She was so tough that I was almost afraid of her.

"Look what Kanye brought to school," she said, showing me the magazine. I wanted to crawl through any hole in the floor. And if his taking it to school wasn't bad enough, she told me that when she asked him where he'd gotten the magazine, he said, "From my mother's closet."

I could have killed him. I didn't know what to say. And to this day, I don't know what I did say. Everything seems somewhat of a blur after that, until I had Kanye in the car and proceeded to yell at him like I'd never done before. Before I
knew it, I'd lost my temper and smacked him across his face. The bad thing about that is that I wasn't even sorry for it. I dared him to ever do such a thing again, and I think it took me hours, if not days, to cool down.

That wasn't the last time Kanye would get caught with his pants down, at least figuratively speaking. He had graduated from Vanderpoel and gone on to Polaris High. I decided to borrow his VCR to look at a movie because the one in our room (Scotty's and mine) was on the blink. To my surprise and utter dismay, Kanye had an X-rated tape in it that in my opinion was too graphic for the most mature adult, much less a fourteen-year-old boy. It was triple-X-rated and I was mad as hell about it. He'd gotten it from one of the boys at school and it seems they had been taking turns watching it. I was so angry that I didn't say a word for two days. I couldn't because I didn't know what to say or what to do.

I did take the tape out so that he'd sweat a little (or hopefully a lot), wondering what had happened to it. When I regained my composure, I confronted him. By this time I had already decided what the consequences would be. I knew that ranting and raving would not deter this behavior. I knew that making him promise never to watch such a thing again would only make him lie to me. So what could I do that might have some positive impact? What could I say that might result in something productive? I wanted to be the mama of mamas, and yet, in this situation I found myself speechless.

In that two days of not mentioning a word to Kanye, it came to me what I should do. Calmly, I approached him with the tape in my hand and said, "What is this?" It was the moment he'd been dreading, I'm sure, and the moment I'd begun to anticipate. To my surprise he said quite openly, 'It's a tape I got from Johnny [not his real name]."

"What were you doing with it in your VCR?" I asked him.

With his head down, he told me he'd been watching it. I don't know what I expected him to say. I'd always raised him to tell the truth, and somehow, I wished then that he'd thought of a lie I could believe. Of course, I knew he'd been watching it. Why else would it have been there? Thankfully, I had taken a moment to reflect on the whole matter and to ask for guidance in confronting him. The direction had come and to this day I know it was better to have done what I did than to have ranted and raved and forbidden his actions. I asked him if he thought it was healthy for young teenaged boys to look at X-rated movies. I continued with a series of other related questions. I was surprised by the maturity of some of his answers and annoyed by the flipness of others. In the end, however, I required him to do a full-blown research paper complete with footnotes and bibliography. I gave him three topics to choose from, but I only remember the topic he chose; "The Impact of Watching X-Rated Movies on a Teenaged Boy."

Until he finished that paper to my satisfaction, there was to be no television, no going to play basketball, no friends over, or any other activity. Needless to say, he worked on the
paper consistently and finished a decent paper in a pretty short time. I corrected it as though he were in one of my college classes, allowing no misspellings and requiring correct documentation. I don't believe it deterred an affinity for such videos. But I do know he learned quite a bit about how to do a research paper and I thought that in itself to be a very valuable lesson.

It is clear to see how Ye did not choose this path, rather he was groomed into it. A domino effect; one by one until we get to present day. In 2018, he revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that despite being married with kids, he still proactively watches videos on Pornhub, with his favorite category being Blacked (an interracial genre of adult films consisting of a black man acting upon a woman, most commonly white). Surprisingly, he also does not watch porn with the sound on. Pornhub had given Ye a free lifetime membership to the premium aspects of their site within days of this announcement. Many assume that Kanye does not only find his wife, Kim Kardashian, attractive; though her female siblings altogether. This part from his 2018 song XTCY fuels this rumour:

You got sick thoughts? I got more of 'em
You got a sister-in-law you'd smash? I got four of 'em
Damn, those is your sisters
You did somethin' unholy to them pictures
Damn, you need to be locked up
Nah, we need a bigger hot tub

Kanye has also admitted to having a sex and porn addiction numerous times throughout his career:

“When Marvin Gaye made ‘Sexual Healing’, it was a fun song but he really had a problem with sex. And I think I have a sexual problem, a sexual addiction. I want to do it all the time. My only drug is porn. I have porn with me all the time. Whenever I go to the porn store, I call it the crack house.” Rolling Stone, 2006

"People ask me a lot about my drive,[...] I think it comes from, like, having a sexual addiction at a really young age. Look at the drive that people have to get sex—to dress like this and get a haircut and be in the club in the freezing cold at 3 a.m., the places they go to pick up a girl. If you can focus the energy into something valuable, put that into work ethic..."

"First beat I did, was in seventh grade, on my computer. I got into doing beats for the video games I used to try to make. My game was very sexual. The main character was, like, a giant penis. It was like Mario Brothers, but the ghosts were, like, vaginas. Mind you, I'm 12 years old, and this is stuff 30-year-olds are programming. You'd have to draw in and program every little step—it literally took me all night to do a step, 'cause the penis, y'know, had little feet and eyes." Details, 2009

Your mum, meanwhile, was head of English at Chicago University where you studied.
‘Yeah, I was an English major and she was head of the department, so I didn’t have to do any homework! Now she’s my manager, and that can be tricky sometimes. She’s like: “Kanye, did you spend $500 at the porno store?”’

Did you?
‘Yeah, I did, but come on, get the fuck out of here! I’m 28 years old, and I have to explain to my mother?’ Time Out, 2005

Kanye's porn habits has also affected his in-studio experience with other artists. When Nicki Minaj first met Kanye West, she claimed that when she entered the studio, Kanye had artistic photos of naked women on his laptop.

“I heard through Drake that Kanye wanted me on his album, and I got on the next thing smokin’ to Hawaii. I didn’t think that he was gonna like me. I always figured that he was one of those conscious rappers, so I thought that he wouldn’t want girls to be dressed overtly sexy—and I go to the studio and he has nothing but pictures of naked women on his computer that he’d invite me to look at. They were really artsy pictures, but you know he loves nudity, so it was a complete shock to me, ’cause I thought I had him all figured out, but I didn’t. He was watching porn when we were in the studio—no shame in his game. Kanye kept askin’ me to come and eat breakfast, but I like to record in the morning. So, when they were eating breakfast, I was in the studio listening to music and writing. And he would always be like, ‘Yo, why you ain’t never come over for breakfast, yo?’ But I never went. I would get to the studio at like 10:30 in the morning and he’d be leaving to go home and eat breakfast and I’d be getting to the studio to just write and record. I stayed late sometimes, but I was always getting sleepy. I get up at 6 in the morning, so midnight is late for me. One time he caught me nodding off, and I thought maybe he would kick me out. I’ve never been so embarrassed in my life. You know how you’re sitting up and you don’t realize that you’ve just fallen asleep, but it feels like an eternity? When I picked up my head from sleeping, he was looking at me in the strangest way I’ve ever been looked at by a human being. He pulled his shades down and he looked and said, ‘Oh, she’s sleeping?’ I wanted to crawl under a rock and die. [Laughs.]

There was another time where Ninja of Die Antwoord had a not so safe for work experience with Ye. In a video with Vice, Ninja claims Kanye randomly turned on porn while they were talking about making music. "As soon as I’m about to say the shit about the track, Kanye just like turns away and switches on a fucking bum, like an anal sex video," Ninja would go ahead and block Ye's number right after the incident.

Kanye is also obsessed with Kim Kardashian's infamous sex tape with Ray J.

Around the late 90s when Kanye was kicking off his music career, he had strongly considered being a porn star himself. The idea would soon come to an end after being engaged to his then girlfriend, Alexis Phifer.

Prior to becoming a saved man once again, Kanye had a very sexual two year stint in 2018 and 2019. Despite a lot of his music having very sexual lyrics, a few of his songs released in those exact two years were very horny, more specifically XTCY and Lift Yourself. Kanye was also the director of the inaugural Pornhub Awards in 2018, promoting his new collection of his fashion brand YEEZY (YEEZY Season 6 and YEEZY x Pornhub collaboration) and his hit song with Lil Pump, I Love It. A couple years back if you recall, Kanye had plans to direct and release a porn video for every song on The Life of Pablo, which would have made the album a visual porno album. Despite this idea somewhat falling out, he would eventually go through with ONE of them by releasing a very NSFW video to his song Famous, which features a naked wax dolls replicating celebs, including him and his wife.

Ye is, well was, a changed man. Crediting God with helping him break his addiction, Kanye made a strong religious connection with his religion. He even released a gospel album in that same year. He has also revealed that he has replaced drugs and porn in his life with Sunday Service, a spiritual event he holds every Sunday which he gives praise and worships God through music.

But sadly, he has relapsed. Scrolling back to the top, the cycle continues. Named after Kendrick Lamar's critically acclaimed album, this is the DAMN. effect. Where the closing ties in with the opening. Nationwide, 21 million men suffer from porn addiction. Ye is 1 in 21. Many may deem this article funny, but this is how the cookie always crumbles. Ye's pain constantly mocked until it is too late, then the pity party beings.
