LEAKED.CX is temporarily offline

A short, honest update on where things stand and what happens next.

Where we stand right now

The forum is down, but the important part is good news: every one of our machines is physically intact and nothing has been lost. This is an access problem, not a data problem. We just cannot switch the servers back on yet.

What actually happened

Our infrastructure sits in Ukraine. Over a short window, drone strikes hit two of our provider's data centres on the same day, and a third site was caught shortly after. One of the two was the facility that held our off site backup, which is why a setup that normally protects us did not help this time.

Why it is taking this long

The hardware survived, so there is nothing to rebuild from scratch. The hold up is purely physical: our provider, Virtual Systems, currently has no free rack space to reinstall the machines and power them up. We are in direct contact with them and are waiting on capacity. We would rather give you an honest "we don't have a firm date yet" than a number we cannot keep.

Why our servers are in Ukraine at all

We have been hosted there since long before the war and simply never relocated. In hindsight that concentration is exactly what hurt us here, and it is the first thing we are fixing.

What changes once we are back

Two data centres in one country clearly was not enough. When LEAKED.CX returns it will run on a reworked disaster recovery plan with regular off site backups in a separate country, so that no single bad day can ever take everything down at once again.

LEAKED.CX is coming back. No data is gone, the servers are safe, and we are only waiting on the space to turn them on again. Thank you for your patience while we get there.

While we are down

The forum is offline, but you can still talk here. Be civil, keep it short, no links.
